Clean Town – Pink Lake, Nakuru Town Development and Biodiversity Conservation Project (LNBCP)

Lake Nakuru is designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. The chemistry of the water is characterized by high pH and high electrical conductivity. The lake has no surface water outlet which means that there is a considerable variation in water levels during years of rainfall extremes. The main objective is to improve to elaborate a water management concept considering the area’s water demand, the water regime of the highly sensitive alkaline Lake Nakuru and the significance of the Lake as Ramsar Site need to be developed to conserve the unique ecosystem.
