The project aims at the provision of an environmentally sound and hygienically safe water supply at cost covering and socially acceptable tariffs in parts of the districts (rayons) of Strășeni and Călărași. The main infrastructure consists of a transmission main pipeline (52 km) from the capital Chisinau to the above-mentioned rayons and improvements of the water supply networks in respective towns and villages. In addition, the Consultancy services aim at the improvement of management and operation of the PEA and the transformation of the local operators ApaCanal Straseni and ApaCanal Calarasi to regional operators for their respective districts.
